Sciath na Scol Football 2007

We were very lucky in our group this year as the draw gave us the advantage of having four out of our five matches at home. This meant we would be playing Millstreet BNS, Gael Scoil Ui Riordain, Ballincollig, Scoil Eoin Inishannon and St. Patricks Gardiners Hill at home and our only away match would be played in Dungourney against Dungourney National School.

WE opened our campaign with a decisive victory against Millstreet on October 2nd winning the match 7:9 to 0:6 with the team looking impressive on all parts of the pitch.

Our next match was the following Thursday October 4th against Ballincollig. Carrig took most of the first half to settle but eventually ran out comfortable winners with a score of 6:5 to Ballincollig's 2:6

On Tuesday 9th of October we traveled to Dungourney where we were met by a very strong side, again we struggled in the first half, and managed to keep out a strong Dungourney attack towards the end of the game to win 5:4 to 3:3

Our winning streak came to an unfortunate end on October 11th when an exceptionally strong Inishannon team visited Carrig. With a very strong mid field and forward line, we found it very hard to break them down and they took control of the game from the very beginning. A better performance from Carrig in the second half saw Carrig put some scores on the board but not nearly enough to catch Inishannon. Final Score 2:6 to 6:15

4th Class Premier Indoor Hurling Competition

Carrig won the regional finals beating Douglas, Ovens, the North Mon and Mallow. They then went on to play in The County Finals at Na Piarsaigh. Here they faced Beaumount in their first game which they won. This meant that victory over Midleton would secure the title. Carrig and Midleton were tied at full time and extra time beckoned. Despite a valiant effort to secure the elusive Golden Goal, victory fell to Midleton on a score line of 6 goals to 5. Carrig had won the competition the previous year (3rd Class) Well done to all the lads. This was a long campaign and great credit is due to the lads on reaching the final.
Team: William Buckley (C), Ciarán Gosnell, Shane Walsh, Darragh Behan, Darren Hodnett, Jamie McCarthy, Owen Murphy, Brian Cashman, Eoghan McSweeney, Stephen O Flynn.

This year the boys took part in Sciath na Scol Hurling and Football competitions. Success eluded us this year as we had been promoted to the A Grade having beaten Scoil Oilibhéir at PáircUí Rinn last year.

The Boys also took part in the GAA/INTO mini sevens skills competitions in both codes with some success. We have yet to play in the 4th class hurling Blitz which will be held in June. We have won this for the last 4 years.
