The Carrigtwohill Golf Classic was held recently at East Cork Golf Club and it turned out to be a huge success. After being nearly washed out in 2008 we were blessed with kind weather and more than 50 teams took part - most of them sponsored by businesses and supporters in the East Cork area.

The winning team was sponsored by the golf committee chairman, Liam Hayes. The three man team of Cormac Ryan, Bernard Rohan and Mick O'Sullivan posted a brilliant score of 59 points, which put them well clear of a host of teams on 54 and 53 points. In second place was the Jimmy McCarthy sponsored team of Ciaran Goldspring, Paul Cashman and Liam Walsh while Michael John Roche's team was third; his playing partners were William White and Michael McCarthy.

Once again we were very grateful for the generous support of Jim Cooney from Guilders Bar and for the hospitality of East Cork Golf Club who provided a great venue and superb meals for the players. Also special mention must go to Donal Harnedy and his team who lifted the spirits of many a downhearted team at half way with a burger and a cold drink. We are looking forward to next year already.
